Diwali party invitation wording for Indian American hosts

Video transcript

An invitation for a Diwali evening often serves two circles: relatives and American friends.

Name the festival in the first line and address the family as hosts, so relatives recognise the invitation at once. Sending it in the name of the household or the parents makes clear who is hosting.

Use one traditional greeting, then state the timing in plain language. American friends may not know when puja begins or how the evening runs, so describe it simply.

List the main parts of the evening in one short line each, so guests know when to arrive. Two or three short lines are enough.

Traditional clothing is welcome, not required. Sweets or a small token may be preferred over wrapped presents. Shoes off at the door should be mentioned before the evening, not on the step.

Ask for a reply by a set day and thank guests whether they can come or not. A single link can make replies easier to track, since each guest sees the same details.

Prepare your Diwali invitation on the Onlivita website.
