Grand Opening Invitations: Formats, Wording and RSVP Tracking

Video transcript

Grand opening invitations do two jobs at once: they share what is happening and ask people to plan a visit. Here is how to word them well and track replies before the doors open.

Every grand opening invitation needs the date, the place and a clear reason to reply. Keep the list to four items, since most people read invitations on a phone.

A short text, a formal card and a friendly email each suit a different guest. Choose by who will read it, not by what looks most decorative.

Say what is happening, when, where and what you want the guest to do, in that order. Read the draft aloud, and split any sentence that leaves you out of breath.

Give every guest one link and record each reply in one place. Follow up only with people who have not answered a few days before the opening.

Vague dates, missing addresses and several competing versions are the most common reasons guests do not reply. Fix them before you send anything.
