Persian New Year Party Invitation: Traditions and Etiquette

Video transcript

Nowruz is the Persian new year, celebrated around the spring equinox. A good invitation tells guests what kind of evening to expect.

Naming the haft-sin table tells guests that a spread will be on display. Keep it to one or two customs, one sentence each. A brief mention is enough, since guests only need to know what to expect.

Put the date, time and address in the first three lines. Add one Persian greeting with its English translation right beside it. Avoid long paragraphs that bury the essentials.

Greet guests at the door and offer tea first. Introduce people who have not met, and mention one thing they share.

State the dress level in one short phrase. Gifts are welcome but never required.

Send the invitation early through a channel your guests already use. A polite reminder shows you value their presence.

You can prepare your invitation on Onlivita.
