Wedding Invitation Size Guide: Paper Dimensions and Digital Screens

A wedding invitation size guide explains paper dimensions, envelope matching, and how those layouts behave on a phone screen.

The most common wedding invitation size in the US is A7, at 5 by 7 inches. The A2 response card measures 4.25 by 5.5 inches.

Square invitations usually measure 5.5 by 5.5 or 6.5 by 6.5 inches. Square envelopes are not machine-sortable in the US, so they add a non-machinable surcharge. Slim cards of 4 by 9 inches can also push past the standard letter size.

An invitation size only works if its envelope matches. An A7 envelope takes a 5 by 7 card, and an A2 takes a response card. Weigh a finished sample at the post office before printing the full run.

Write the wording first, then choose the card. Leave at least a quarter inch of margin on every side. If the text feels tight, the size is wrong, not the font.

Digital invitations do not have a fixed size. A tall 9:16 layout suits a phone held upright. A square 1:1 layout works well for a social post.

Every measurement and detail is in the article.
